Trebinje Energy Summit from March 16 to 18 – Most Important Topics and Trends in Energy Profession in Three Days

The Trebinje Energy Summit, a place of the gathering of the most prominent people from the energy profession, is continuing its successful story, and its third edition will be held between March 16 and 18.

As in the previous two years, the organizers made sure to gather, in the city on the Trebisnjica, representatives of the authorities, the profession, renowned companies, scientists, experts, as well as faculty representatives, and all of them, through the ten panels of this summit, will discuss and exchange opinions about the most important questions in the field of energy.

– It is our honor that, for the third time, Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske and the company SET, with the institutional support of the Government of Republika Srpska, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and the Secretariat of the Energy Community of the EU, are the organizers of the international 2022 Trebinje Energy Summit, which brings together a large number of eminent experts, scientists and decision-makers in the fields of energy, economy and industry. We are all gathered together around the same idea, to bravely step toward the energy future which brings us structural and functional changes. We need to take the road ahead of us seriously, in the sense of the preparation of strategic documents, get closer to EU policies, define joint projects and goals which will help us join the European and world trends of energy transition – said Aleksandar Brankovic, the director of the company SET, which is the organizer of the Summit.

This year, the topics at the Summit include the decarbonization of the energy sector of the states of the Western Balkans, the role of national power companies in the transition of this sector, the development of the gas pipeline network for the purpose of a secure supply, the state and the capacity in the market of electrical energy in the region, as well as the balancing of RES energy in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.

We will also hear about what the challenges are when its comes to the implementation of the emission trade system, the implementation of the “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism” in the countries of the region, how the process of the implementation of energy efficiency measures is progressing, what the imperatives are in the digitization of the processes, whether there is an adequate infrastructure for electric mobility in the Western Balkans, and we will also take a look at what obligations lie ahead in establishing mandatory reserves of oil and oil products.

– During the days of the Summit, Trebinje is a place for discussions about renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, sustainable transport of energy, reduction of CO2 emissions, as well as air quality. The success of this energy Summit will not be measured by the number of visitors, although it gathers over 400 participants from the world of energy in the region. Instead, it will be measured by the results achieved after it is held, through the realization of the individual and joint projects that are discussed at the Summit – Brankovic said.

The organizers of the 2022 Trebinje Energy Summit are Elektroprivreda RS, the City of Trebinje and the company SET, under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of BiH and the Government of RS.
